When do additional costs arise?
At Persoonlijk Proefschrift, we operate a transparent system where you know in advance exactly what costs you’ll face. To this end, we have clearly defined our services; the basic principle is that, for the agreed price, you’ll receive everything you need to end up with a superb thesis. It is therefore very rare for any price changes to occur after you have received the quote.
Extra costs are incurred in only three situations:
- It is entirely up to you whether, after accepting our quote, you wish to purchase additional products from us – such as an extra summary booklet, for example;
- You have reached the limits of the services you purchase from us – for example, you have reached the maximum number of correction rounds achieve;
- You’d like to purchase services from us that we don’t offer as standard – such as proofreading or an individual request.
What happens if there are additional costs?
Does any of the three situations mentioned above apply? Please be aware that, in such cases, no additional charges will ever be applied without your consent! Your designer will let you know if there are any additional costs to discuss. You will then discuss this together and determine the amount of work involved. Your designer will then determine the amount of the additional charges based on our hourly rate for extra work. At present, this rate is €35 excluding VAT, but this amount is subject to change. The hourly rate stated in your quote is the guiding principle. Only once you have agreed to the proposed amount will it be added to your invoice and will your designer start work for you! A designer will never carry out any work at extra cost without your consent.
I only need a minor adjustment – do I still have to pay for the extra work?
Sometimes, when working on your thesis, you may come across a minor issue that needs correcting or amending, but which technically falls under one of the three categories described above. Naturally, you’ll still want to sort it out. In that case, do get in touch with your designer to discuss it. They’ll then look into what’s possible for you. The conditions for additional work described above are, in principle, the guiding principles. In practical terms, this means that you’ll need to agree on any additional costs. Without this standard, the agreement between you and us would become unclear.
Nevertheless, we realise that this may not seem proportionate when it comes to a minimal amount of work. That is why the human touch takes precedence at Persoonlijk Proefschrift. Your designer is always free to carry out additional work free of charge. However, your designer has the final say in deciding whether to grant this concession!
Through close consultation, you and your designer will always be able to work this out; our personalised approach ensures that there are virtually never any disagreements on this matter here with us. Don’t forget, too, that our coordinator is available at all times to act as a third party and mediate.
