What is a ‘Basis’ cover?
In this article, we explain exactly what a ‘Basic Cover’ option for a Personal Thesis entails, and when it is the best choice for you.
What is included in a Standard cover?
A Basic cover design involves a designer creating a cover for you using an image that you provide. This cover option includes design work for the following elements:
- Placing the image you have supplied on the front, back, spine or any inside pages of the cover;
- The placement and layout of text, such as the title or author’s name, on the front cover, back cover, spine or any inside pages of the cover;
- The front and back of a bookmark or invitation;
In addition, we provide technical support to ensure your cover is ready for printing.
How exactly does this work?
With us, you’ll get a personal designer who will be responsible for the design. They will listen carefully to your requirements and guide you through the process. You can read more about the design process here.
Our process involves rounds of revisions, during which you can provide feedback to the designer. With a Basic cover, you have 3 rounds of corrections. Read more about correction rounds here.
When is this the best choice for me?
The Basic Cover is the ideal option if you already have an image ready for your cover. This could be a photograph, or a design created by someone you know or have commissioned. We’ll help you position that image perfectly on the cover.
This is also a good option if you’re short on time. Based on your image, a professional cover can be put together quickly.
This option isn’t the best choice if your image still needs to be edited. If you’d like to work with a designer to edit an image, why not consider our Default cover option.
What is not included?
At Persoonlijk Proefschrift, we aim to offer a comprehensive package at a fixed price. Our Basic Cover option therefore includes everything that, based on our many years’ experience as thesis designers, is essential if you already have an image of your own.
If you’re looking for something that isn’t covered by this option, we’re always happy to help! In that case, please discuss any additional costs with us. Read more about this in this article.
Additional charges apply to a Basic package for:
- Editing the image you have provided;
- More than the number of correction rounds included;
- Creating more than one version of your cover, for example softcover and hardcover versions;
- The use of special cover finishes, such as silver foil or die-cuts.
