Personal Thesis: Then and Now.

Then

In 2012, Matthijs and Robbert had already been working together for some time when they took the initiative to set up Persoonlijk Proefschrift. At that time, they had no team, but they did have an office in Enschede. Thanks to Robbert and Matthijs’s proactive and enterprising approach, our company grew rapidly and we were able to recruit new designers, particularly students from the University of Enschede.

It soon became clear that the scientific background of our designers This is a major advantage when it comes to designing theses. After all, our designers have a clear understanding of the issues and circumstances involved in a PhD programme. Furthermore, the designers at Persoonlijk Proefschrift are often available outside office hours – which is a real advantage if, as a PhD candidate, you are busy with a full-time job during the day whilst also pursuing your PhD.

Now

During these early years, the foundations were laid for what the company is today. The experience gained whilst typesetting hundreds of theses has been collated and shared within our team to enhance the quality of our work. We are constantly seeking ways to optimise our process to improve the quality of the layout. Our aim is to provide as many PhD students as possible with personalised support whilst they are formatting their theses.

With this aim in mind, the Persoonlijk Proefschrift team has grown significantly and now comprises a range of specialists. Of course, our team of designers We have expanded considerably and now have at least 25 young, enterprising professionals working with us. In addition to their own training in design, they have all been trained by us through our own training programme, which is tailored to the design of doctoral theses.

In addition, the team has been expanded to include a software developer, a communications specialist and a coordinator, in order to optimise the thesis design process behind the scenes and to offer the best and most comprehensive service possible.

Future

Persoonlijk Proefschrift has come a long way since its early days. We are always open to new challenges and the next round of improvements to enhance the quality of our service to perfect.
