Premium thesis cover
At Persoonlijk Proefschrift, we distinguish between two types of covers: one standard and a premium cover. In the Personal Thesis Package comes with a standard cover, in our Premium package It comes with a premium cover.
In this article, we provide a guide to what a premium cover entails, so that you can get a clear idea of what to expect from the design of a premium cover. There is a separate page with more information about a standard thesis cover.
Designs for a premium cover
In contrast to the more structured approach to designing a standard cover, the design of your cover offers greater freedom with a premium cover. A premium cover often features:
- An idea or concept in your head that you haven’t visualised yet, but which you’d like to see developed visually;
- An idea where you already know exactly how you picture it and what you want, and you want a designer to bring it to life for you;
- You haven’t the faintest idea what you want for your thesis cover, but you’d like some in-depth and creative help with designing it.
A selection of premium covers
- You’ll have an initial consultation with your designer, during which you can go through your ideas. It’s a good idea to show or go through plenty of examples during this meeting, so that the designer gets as clear a picture as possible of what you like and the direction you want to take with your cover design.
- The layout of the text on the front and back covers, the spine and the bookmark is included. This means that the font, size and position of the text will also be customised to your requirements.
- Following the initial consultation, the designer will produce a first draft of your cover. You will receive this as a PDF, and you can provide your feedback on it.
- Following your feedback, the designer will make adjustments to suit your requirements. You have a total of three rounds of revisions available (including the first draft) to ensure your cover turns out exactly as you envisage it.
- Following these rounds of corrections, you will receive the final cover.
Frequently asked questions about premium covers
“I’ve no idea yet what I want on my premium cover. How can I be sure I’ll get a designer who can create exactly what I want in the end?”
To ensure we can match you as closely as possible with a designer who suits your requirements, we always ask you, when commissioning a premium cover, to give us an idea of what you’d like to have created. These could be examples that don’t necessarily show exactly what you want, but rather illustrate the style you like. If you don’t have any ideas yet, the coordinator will help you further and ensure you’re matched with a suitable designer. Most of our premium cover designers are incredibly versatile!
“I’d like to have some analogue work produced. Is that included in the premium cover package?”
A certain amount of analogue work is often included in the premium cover package. If you would like to commission a very extensive amount of analogue work, an additional charge will be applied, subject to consultation.
“I’d also like a premium design for the chapter pages. Is that possible?”
If you’d also like the artwork created for your cover to be included on the chapter pages, that’s no problem. If you’d like unique chapter pages to be created, an additional fee will be agreed for this.
